Terms Defined: Florida Welcome Center, Capitol, Capitol Complex, etc.

Florida Welcome Centers - There are only five official Florida Welcome Centers. These are the ones operated by VISIT FLORIDA. At one time, the Welcome Centers were called Welcome Stations. Some welcoming places use this name, but they are not official Florida Welcome Centers.

The Old Capitol - the previous building used as the state capitol building.

Capitol Grounds - the area contains the Capitol, the Old Capitol, the House Office Building, the Senate Office Building and the Knott Building. This area is bound on the north by Jefferson St./Pensacola St., on east by Monroe St., on the south by Madison St., and the west by Duval St.
Capitol Complex - this area, defined by state law, contains the buildings listed under Capitol Grounds plus the Holland Building and the Pepper Building.
Capitol Center - the area in downtown Tallahassee containing the major state office buildings. This area is bound on the north by College Ave., on the west by Martin Luther King Blvd., and to south and east by the CSX railway line.
